Raptors of the Desert Sky
Written By Dan Dzurisin
Among the many and varied attractions at the High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon, is the Raptors of the Desert Sky flight program. To say that the program offers visitors an opportunity to meet free-flying raptors “up close and personal” would be an understatement, unless your idea of “up close” is measured in inches! It’s hard to stay focused, both literally and figuratively, while a bird of prey is zipping past your head or below eye level at those distances. I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story. Click on through these 19 images taken during a 25 minute program. The other 1,200 or so were near misses (or far misses).
